International Baccalaureate

This is my artworks from the years 2016 to 2018 when I was in an International Baccalaureate curriculum. The following images are still life images that I have drawing and painted with several mediums. Wet mediums include: Acrylic, Oil, Gouache, and Watercolor. Other mediums that I have used are Pencil, Soft Pastels, and  Charcoal.
The following images are paintings created on canvas.

Dress-Up
Oil on Canvas (20x25
As unjaded and honest as young children are, this painting serves to capture childhood innocence and openness, hopefully in a candid and convincing light. It is painted from memory, as I remember rummaging through my mother’s make-up, wardrobe and shoe shelf, trying to find the most attractive clothing, as I always aspired to be like my mother when I grew up. I’d be in awe just watching her get ready into her best clothes and accessories, preparing herself for an evening of revelry.

Loss of Innocence
Oil on Canvas (75x100)
For this piece, my focus is on the subject matter of war. I am of Indian origin, and as a child, l learnt about the history of India and the war with her neighbours through my grandfather, a retired soldier in the army. He told me stories of the struggles which did not discriminate against the young. These war-ravaged children are forced to abandon their childhood and innocence, and so, for this reason, I dedicate this piece to the youth who crave normality in the truest sense, but will always struggle to fill a void left by war and premature hardship.
